Our staff are based in Gunnedah, Quirindi, Narrabri, Tamworth and Lightning Ridge, and we work with communities all across regional NSW.
ABORIGINAL FATHERS PROJECT
Our Aboriginal Fathers Project is a holistic support for Aboriginal families expecting a baby or with young children. The Aboriginal Fathers Project aims to provide these children with the best start in life. Our Aboriginal Fathers Project builds parenting skills and promotes safety within a childs home, family and community. Activities available to support you and your family include:
- Connecting families to local service providers
- Community events
- Advocacy and support
- Parenting programs
- Family capacity building
Activities and supports are available to families across the Gunnedah and Narrabri local government areas.
The Aboriginal Fathers Project is a Targeted Early Intervention initiative funded by the Department of Communities and Justice.
Inclusive Communities aims to build accessible, connected communities with equal opportunities for people all abilities, needs and backgrounds to participate and engage.
We aim to ensure each activity is tailored to suit the community it is delivered in, and partner with local community groups and service providers to build the capacity of each community to identify and meet its own needs.

Our staff are located in Gunnedah, Quirindi, Tamworth, Narrabri and Lightning Ridge. Activities are delivered across 16 local government areas in New England, North West and Central West NSW.
Our Inclusive Communities program is funded by the National Disability Insurance Agency for Information Linkages and Capacity Building – Individual Capacity Building.
Justice Support aims to support people with a disability, suspected disability or mental illness who have had contact with the justice system to access the support and guidance they need to reconnect with community and culture and get back on track. This program is designed to support Aboriginal youth and young adults as a priority, and services are extended to support non-Aboriginal people and older adults if they are unable to access suitable support.
- Assistance with post-release transport
- Transport to residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation
- Support to engage with housing, mental health and community support providers
- Support to comply with bail or parole conditions
- Assistance to engage with the NDIS or disability support services
Support is available to people on bail, a good behaviour bond, a suspended sentence, currently serving a sentence, or on parole. People outside of this eligibility can be referred through Department of Communities and Justice, Community Corrections, NSW Police, Aboriginal Legal Aid or Gunida Gunyah.

Winanga-Li partners with organisations and volunteer groups to deliver a range of community projects which support and strengthen Aboriginal children, families and communities.
Some of the initiatives we have supported include local sporting teams and NAIDOC events.
